Welcome to the Percussive Arts Society!
By PAS President Gary Cook

Welcome to pas.org, the web site of the Percussive Arts Society, the premier percussion organization in the world. The Percussive Arts Society (PAS) brings together thousands of performers, educators, students, manufacturers, publishers, and vendors from around the world who have a love for drumming and percussion. Here you can check out what the pros already know: that to be successful in percussion you need to develop your talent to its fullest and expand your knowledge and professional connections in every way possible. And the very best way to do this is through PAS!

For over 45 years the Percussive Arts Society has been serving all levels of percussion performers and educators as well as the percussion industry. (For more on the history of PAS click on About PAS in the sidebar and then the click on History.) Each year PAS hosts the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, better known as PASIC, the largest percussion convention in the world. PASIC features four days of the top names in drumming and percussion in concerts, clinics, panel discussions, master classes, and more as well as the International Drum and Percussion Expo with over 125 manufacturers and publishers displaying in the exhibit hall. (For more on PASIC click on Convention (PASIC) in the sidebar or see: http://www.pasic.org/) In addition to PASIC, each year over 70 domestic and international PAS chapters host Days of Percussion and other festivals, clinics, and educational programs in their state, country, or region. PAS sponsors competitions in performance and composition, awards numerous scholarships, and boasts a prestigious Hall of Fame with nearly 100 members.

PAS members receive monthly publications including the award-winning
magazine Percussive Notes and the PAS newsletter, Percussion News. Audio
and video podcasts are posted on pas.org along with Educator Resources,
Downloads, Ask An Expert and many other features. Unique to PAS are the
Articles and Archives with over forty years of PAS publications available to members along with the PAS Online Research Journal. And these are just the beginning for PAS members!

Do you want to find the latest information on performance and music? Do
you wish to connect with leading drummers and percussionists in virtually every genre? Or perhaps conduct research on compositions? It's all here on pas.org. If you are a current PAS member, login and explore this site by creating your own password, allowing you unlimited access to all of the resources it has to offer, especially the popular Members Forums. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the many public features of the site.

If you are not currently a PAS member, I encourage you to consider what
over 9,000 percussionists worldwide already know: that a membership in
the Percussive Arts Society is an invaluable key to making a difference
in your education, your playing, and your career. Just click on Join PAS
or see: http://www.pas.org/Join/ to see the many benefits of PAS
