Welcome to the Percussive Arts Society and our website (www.pas.org) It is indeed an honor for me to serve as the President of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) for the next two years. The PAS Executive Committee Team currently comprised of Immediate Past President Steve Houghton, President-elect John R. Beck, First Vice-President John Wittmann, Second Vice-President John Parks, Secretary Julie Hill, and Executive Director Michael Kenyon as well as a dedicated PAS Staff continue to work diligently and daily promoting our mission. Our mission of promoting percussion education, research, performance, and appreciation throughout the world provides us all with valuable benefits through membership. In fact, we are celebrating 50 Years of PAS during 2011! Our mission has never waivered and we have continued to grow. 50 years of PAS reminds me of the quintessential flam rudiment that we passionately and tenaciously develop and study. PAS membership continues to provide us with: F-Fellowship
Membership in PAS provides fellowship opportunities for 7,000+ percussionists worldwide through our publications (eNewsletters, Percussion News, Percussive Notes), website communities (i.e. eGroup forums and blogs, facebook community), conventions and state festivals (i.e. manufacturers exhibits, clinics/workshops, performances). Our conventions are truly like a large family reunion! L-Leadership
Membership in PAS provides professional leadership opportunities through our network of over 75 chapters worldwide, 17 standing committees, and 2 print publications. Over 500 of our members gain valuable leadership expertise and experience regularly. A-Association
Membership in PAS provides an association with others who share a passion for percussion through attendance and participation in our Day of Percussion festivals and annual Percussive Arts Society International Convention. This year’s convention is truly a celebration. It is our 50th Anniversary! Don’t miss PASIC 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana from November 9-12, 2011. Meet and greet anyone and everyone in the percussion industry. Celebrate our art form! Visit our museum Rhythm! Discovery Center to explore our past, view the present, and seize our future. M-Materials.
Membership in PAS provides you with all percussion resource and archival materials. We have over 20,000 pages of information with an archive search and searchable literature lists and reviews. Publications such as Percussive Notes and Percussion News are alternately published monthly with the latest news and research available. The publications are available online or in print form. Archival materials are available to members online. “I AM PAS, YOU ARE PAS, AND WE ARE UNITED AS ONE!”
Sincerely,
Lisa Rogers
