25 September 2006 (updated: August 20, 2007)

Message from Neal Flum, ALAPAS President
2007 - 2008

Greetings!

I hope this message finds you all well. Another summer has come and gone. We have submitted our year-end reports to PAS and eagerly await their grant award announcement for our chapter. Our new slate of officers officially began their terms this month: Grant Dalton, Vice President, Anne Rose, Secretary, and Clif Payne, treasurer.

Our 14th annual Alabama PAS Day of Percussion is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2007 at Samford University. Grant Dalton will be the host. We hope to have another successful event. Last year's was an entertaining and educational one and the new hall at Samford University was instrumental in making that happen.

If you want to keep up with ALAPAS chapter "doings," then please consider becoming a member of PAS. Doing so will offer you many wonderful benefits and place you on our e-mail list managed by PAS in Indianapolis, Indiana. We need your help and support. So, please consider joining PAS; coming to our meetings; and becoming an active member in the chapter. If you have agenda items for our meetings, questions, or merely need my assistance, please click the following link and e-mail me:

Our next meeting is: Sunday, August 26, 3:00 p.m. in the Samford University Band Room.

If you are interested in joining PAS, please go to: www.pas.org and click on JOIN PAS. Or click here and go directly to the JOIN PAS web page.

I am proud to share with you that I was appointed Interim Chair of the Marching Percussion Committee of PAS and am humbled and honored to be serving PAS in that capacity. I am also pleased to share with you that PAS has moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, which is also soon to become the headquarters of DCI. It is already the home of Bands of America and about a six-to-seven hour drive from Birmingham, Alabama. The move to Indianapolis should prove quite advantageous to PAS.

There is much work to be done on our website and content needed. Always is. If you have events, information, anything relevant to our chapter, or if you would like to be added to our ALAPAS e-mail list, please send your information to me at: Neal's e-mail

We have an energetic and outstanding chapter whose accomplishments are the result of a great team effort by our members. Please consider not only joining PAS but becoming an active member of the Alabama Chapter.

Yours in drumming,
Respectfully,
