Dr. Cary Dachtyl, Percussion instructor and Director of the Percussion Ensemble, Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. Music director and conductor of the Welsh Hills Symphony Orchestra, Granville, Ohio. Dr. Dachtyl has served as principal timpanist with the Cleveland Opera Orchestra and Welsh Hills Symphony Orchestra and percussionist with the Cleveland Ballet Orchestra, and performed with the Columbus Symphony, Opera Columbus, the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, Columbus Light Opera, Pro Musica, Cantari, the Cecilian Singers, Springfield Symphony, Knox County Symphony and the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra.

Freelance performances with Diana Ross, Roger Williams, Crystal Gayle, Richard Adler and principal orchestral percussionist for the Moody Blues and Yes Symphonic Orchestra as well as performances throughout Italy and the Vatican. Dr. Dachtyl performs in the Columbus and Central Ohio with his wife Linda, Hammond Organist and Percussionist, in LDB3, jazz organ quartet and QED, a jazz piano trio.

Outstanding Chapter President Award
Comes to Ohio

Dr. Cary Dachtyl was awarded the Outstanding Chapter President Award for 2006 at PASIC in Austin, Texas this past November. The award was present to Dr. Dachtyl by PAS President-Elect Gary Cook. The Chapter receives a $1,000 grant along with the award.

Warren Hyer is a 1976 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance. He has spent the last thirty years performing professionally throughout Ohio, including as percussionist with the Central Ohio Symphony since its formation in 1978 and with the Mansfield Symphony since 1981. He is also timpanist for the Choral Arts of Springfield. Since 1976, he has been owner of Hyer Percussion Products, a maker and refinisher of custom percussion instruments. In arts management, Warren has served as Executive Director of the Central Ohio Symphony since 1991. The Symphony is a 65 member professional ensemble serving six central Ohio counties.
