The BGSU Percussion Ensemble (Dr. Roger Schupp, director) will
be
presenting a concert on Wednesday, April 9 at Kobacker Hall
in
the Moore Musical Arts Center, Bowling Green.
April 10—Music for Two Piano and Percussion (Bartok and

April 13—BGSU Men’s Chorus with Dr. Roger
B. Schupp, Songs from Matengo
Folktales, 3 P.M. Kobacker Hall
April 14—Steel Drum Ensembles, 8 P.M. Kobacker Hall
On Monday,
April 14 at 8 p.m., also in Kobacker Hall, the new
BGSU Steel Drum Ensemble (Bryan Stanbridge, director) will
present its spring concert. The concert will include traditional
island music as well as arrangements of more modern jazz charts.
It will also feature a world premiere composition, "Caribbean
Gates," by BGSU graduate student composer, Alan Elkins.
April 17—World Percussion Night, 8 P.M. Kobacker Hall
The last concert event in April for percussion at BGSU is "World
Percussion Night." This concert includes performances by
three of
BG's ethnic music ensembles, the African-Caribbean Ensemble
(Dr.
Steven Cornelius, director), the Kusuma Sari Gamelan (Dr. David
Harnish, director) and the Hayabusa Taiko Ensemble (Dr. Paul
Yoon, director). The concert will feature music and dancing
from
all three ensembles and is usually a perennial favorite.
April 18—Wind Symphony with Dr. Roger B. Schupp, David’s
Book—Concerto for Percussion by David Maslanka, 8
P.M. Kobacker HallThere are also a number of senior, masters,
and doctoral recitals this semester.
