Danny Gottlieb is longtime student of, friend of, and collaborator with the legendary Joe Morello.
While best known as the drummer in the original Pat Metheny Group, Danny has performed on over 300 recordings,
including 5 Grammy Award winners. He has played with some of the world's greatest musicians in all styles of
music. After Pat Metheny, Danny performed with John McLaughlin, Gil Evans, Sting, Gary Burton, Bobby

from some of those projects into his clinic at the Day of Percussion.

Michael Rosen is Professor of Percussion at Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he teaches, conducts the
Oberlin Percussion Group and is director of the Oberlin Percussion Institute. He served as Principal Percussionist with the
Milwaukee Symphony from 1966 to 1972, and since then has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Concertgebouw
Orchestra as well as the Grand Teton Music Festival. He maintains a continuing column in Percussive Notes Magazine
dealing with percussion terms in foreign languages and is also editor of the Focus on Performance section of the
magazine. Michael Rosen was instrumental introducing Keiko Abe to North America.

In his two years at Shenandoah he has co-founded the Ear Candy Contemporary Music Concerts, and been a co-chair

of the planning committee of the Performing Arts Live professional concert series. He also presently serves on
the Symphonic Committee of the Percussive Arts Society. Prior to his appointment at Shenandoah, he performed for
19 seasons as the principal timpanist and percussionist of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. He was a featured soloist
with internationally famous percussionist Evelyn Glennie in the SPCO performances of Andrzej Panufnik's
"Concertino for Timpani, Percussion and Strings" and was timpani soloist in the Chamber Orchestra's premier
performances of Johann Carl Christian Fischer's"Symphony for Eight Obbligato Timpani." He has performed with
cellist Yo Yo Ma, and appeared on Minnesota Public Radio's"Saint Paul Sunday" and "Prairie Home Companion" programs.

Message from the President
The Day of Percussion is quickly approaching. It has been quite a scramble to replace Joe Morello. But everything is
now in place, and it will be a great Day. We have groups and individuals from many regions within our chapter. I again
want to recognize Day of Percussion Coordinator, Debbie Anderson, for her tireless efforts to collect doorprizes. Thanks
to Debbie, the industry support looks like it will be strong as ever; which means lots of door prizes!
