Bells from Around the World
The Percussive Arts Museum currently has on special exhibit a
selection of bells from around the world. Fashioned in metal and
wood and featuring plain to intricate decorations, these instruments
from the museum’s collection were created in West Africa,
Southeast Asia, Korea, Thailand, Bali, and the Middle East.
Bells are percussion instruments that serve a variety of purposes
in world cultures. The bells in this exhibit were used for musical
performances and in religious ceremonies, as well as for working
with livestock and in other practical activities.
