Percussive Arts Museum to Unveil
New Kiosks
The public is invited to a special
reception and open house at the Percussive Arts Museum
from 4 to 6 p.m., Sept. 13, to celebrate the addition
of four new interactive video kiosks in the museum’s
galleries. The museum is located at 701 NW Ferris Ave.,
Lawton, in Elmer Thomas Park, behind the McMahon Memorial
Auditorium.
The kiosk project was made possible by a grant from
the McCasland Foundation of Duncan. The kiosks allow
museum visitors to hear and see performances of unique
instruments represented in the museum’s collection
and learn more about their original cultural and historical
contexts.
The kiosks are a special project begun by Percussive
Arts Society 2004 Spring Intern Brian Zeglis, who helped
prepare the grant request. PAS Financial Manager Jim
Gratner (a former intern) and 2005 Fall Intern Nick
Wulfkuhle recently completed the project. Robert Leidy,
Norman, provided technical audio/visual assistance
in support of the project. The project was supervised
by Otice Sircy, PAS Museum Curator and Librarian.
The reception is hosted by the Percussive Arts Society,
the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and the Lawton
Hospitality Association.
