The Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) will celebrate 30 years as the drum and percussion world's premier event Nov. 2--5 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus, Ohio. The anniversary will be marked by special evening concerts and a souvenir 30th Anniversary PASIC Program book looking back on past years' highlights. This is PASIC's fourth visit to Columbus.
PASIC organizers expect more than 6,000 drummers and percussionists from around the world for four days of education, inspiration and celebration. The lineup will include more than 130 events on twelve stages featuring many of the world's best musicians. The convention will showcase programs on many areas of percussion, including drumset, orchestral, keyboard, world, marching and more. Confirmed artists and presenters will be announced in July.
The convention's International Drum & Percussion Expo takes place Nov. 3--5 with more than 120 exhibitors showcasing the latest in percussion products, publications and services.
The PASIC Indoor Marching Percussion Festival will take place on Nov. 3 and 4. The festival features a competition of high school and collegiate drumlines and solo performers vying for top honors in this nationally recognized contest. Individuals will compete on Nov. 3, ensembles on Nov. 4.
On Nov. 3, PAS and the Percussion Marketing Council will host a free children's concert. Elementary school children from the greater Columbus area will be invited to attend.
PASIC will also host other outreach activities for the greater Columbus community during the week of the convention. More details will be announced at a later date.
