In Memoriam

Composer and PAS Hall of Fame member Lou Harrison died on Sunday, Feb. 2, of an apparent heart attack while on his way to a festival of his music at Ohio State University.

His composition included ballets, operas, symphonies, concertos and in strumental suites, as well as numerous pieces for gamelan. Many of his pieces have become standard works in the percussion ensemble repertoire, including "Bomba," "Concerto No. I for Flute and Percussion," "Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra," "Canticle No. 1," "Canticle No. 3," "Labyrinth" and "Fugue."
