Beverley Johnston is internationally recognized for her virtuosic and dynamic performances on a wide range of percussion instruments, and her dedication to commissioning new works. Her exciting performances effectively combine classical transcriptions, contemporary music, and a touch of theatre. Johnston has released four solo CDs: Impact and Alternate Currents (Centrediscs), Marimbach (CBC Records Musica Viva), and Garden Of Delights (www.beverleyjohnston.com). She received her training at Vanier College in her native Montreal and at the University of Toronto, where she studied with Russell Hartenberger. She currently lives in rural Ontario, Canada with her husband, composer Christos Hatzis and teaches at the University of Toronto.
