Doug Perkins

Doug Perkins’ performances have been described as, “terrific, wide-awake and strikingly entertaining” by the Boston Globe and a "percussion virtuoso" by the New York Times.  He has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Spoleto USA Festival, and the Ojai Festival. Doug founded the Meehan/ Perkins Duo and So Percussion. Lately, Doug has been directing large-scale percussion events that have been cited in the Top 10 performances of 2010 by New York Magazine and Time Out New York.  Alex Ross called his production of John Luther Adams' “Inuksuit” at the Park Avenue Armory, "one of the most rapturous experiences of my listening life." Doug currently teaches at Dartmouth College and is the Director of the Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar at the Center for Advanced Musical Studies. He performs with Vic Firth Drumsticks and Mallets, Pearl/ Adams Musical Instruments, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, and Black Swamp Percussion Accessories.
