As part of the University of North Texas (UNT) percussion program, the UNT Percussion Ensemble directed by Mark Ford is a diverse and innovative ensemble that has set high standards in percussion education and performance for decades. This select percussion ensemble has performed at music festivals and conventions including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and the PerKumania Festival in Paris, France. The ensemble has performed with such artists as Keiko Abe, Bob Becker, Bill Cahn, and Gregg Bissonette. The ensemble's new CD, Vespertine Formations, is now available on the AUR label. To further enhance their educational offerings, UNT provides opportunities for percussion students to also study and perform in a variety of ethnic percussion ensembles including steel band, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, African, Gamelan and South Indian ensembles.
