Scholarships
The Percussive Arts Society is pleased to announce several scholarships assisting students to attend PASIC 2013. Applicant must be an active PAS member at time of application, and if selected, during PASIC 2013. Each scholarship recipient will receive PASIC registration, PASIC souvenir t-shirt and $500 toward the cost of transportation/lodging.

Freddie Gruber Scholarship
This annual scholarship, in memory of Buddy Rich and Nick Ceroli, will be in the amount of $2,500 awarded to a college or university student for drumset performance.

PAS/Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship
As a charter member of the Percussive Arts Society and a 16-year Trustee of Berklee College Armand Zildjian sought to create more learning opportunities for today’s musicians in both contemporary and classical music. The PAS Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship is one step in fulfilling that quest. This annual $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student percussionist enrolled in an accredited college or university school of music.

PAS/Hudson Music Drumset Scholarship
Established by Hudson Music in 2006, the PAS Hudson Music Drumset Scholarship continues the company’s commitment to music education and to the support of student drummers. Funding is provided through proceeds from sales of Hudson Music’s “Classic Jazz” series DVDs. This annual $1000 scholarship is awarded to a full-time student registered in an accredited college or university school of music during the academic year.

PAS/Remo, Inc. Fred Hoey Memorial Scholarship
Fred Hoey had an illustrious career in the field of music as an author, clinician, and percussion industry innovator. He was a charter member of the Percussive Arts Society and an educator whose influence on percussionists continues with the PAS Fred Hoey Memorial Scholarship. This annual $1000 scholarship is awarded to an incoming college freshman percussionist enrolled in the School of Music at an accredited college or university.

PAS/Sabian, Ltd. Larrie Londin Memorial Scholarship
The late Larrie Londin was one of the world’s leading studio drummers. A musician with an adventurous musical spirit, he was a man who liked to share with others. That sharing continues through the PAS/Sabian Larrie Londin Memorial Scholarship. Created to support promising young drummers with their drumset studies, a total of $3,000 is awarded annually.

PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Vibraphone Scholarship
The PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Vibraphone Scholarship was established in 2005 in honor of legendary jazz vibraphonist Terry Gibbs. Gibbs is recognized as one of the best ever to grace the genre of bop, having played with artists such as Buddy Rich, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie, and leading his own critically acclaimed big band, The Dream Band. Funded by Yamaha, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student registered in an accredited college or university school of music for the following academic year. The student must also be a member of PAS.

GrantsZildjian Family Opportunity Fund
The Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund, established by the Zildjian family in 2001, is a permanently endowed trust managed and administered through the Percussive Arts Society. Awards ranging from $500-$3,000 provide funding for percussion-based presentations directed for underserved youth, ages pre-school through high school. All services funded are free of charge to participants and take place in local community settings. Download an application.

Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Grant for a Non-Percussionist Band Director
The purpose of the “Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Grant for a Non-Percussionist Band Director” is to provide financial assistance to a band director to attend the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) to be held in Indianapolis, IN on November 13–16, 2013 in order to further the band director’s knowledge of percussion instruments and their use in school ensembles.
