Creating a University Percussion Club
University-based percussion clubs are steadily becoming an important part of the percussion field’s financial support from the collegiate level. The benefits of having a percussion club in an academic setting are threefold. First, percussion students are able to take advantage of their tuition money by seeking funding from the Student Government Association for events that pertain to their major and that they are involved in. Second, guest artists in the percussion field become more active when there is greater opportunity. Essentially, we are feeding our own discipline with further endeavors. Finally and most importantly, the Percussion Club is an excellent resource that reaches out to the greater student body and the local community to promote the percussive arts.
