The AzPAS 36th Annual Spring
Festival of Percussion took place on March
27-28, 2009 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. This
year's event featured three members of the ensemble
Panoramic: Robert Chappell, Liam Teague, and Orlando
Cotto. The Friday night concert featured performances by
Panoramic with the Arizona Collaborative World
Percussion Ensemble as well as several local world percussion
ensembles. Saturday morning included solo and ensemble
adjudication opportunities in the areas of percussion
ensemble, keyboard ensemble, keyboard, snare drum, multiple
percussion, and timpani solo, and a jazz combo based drum set
audition. The members of Panoramic each
presented clinics on Saturday afternoon and the festival
closed with a Showcase concert featuring college and
university percussion ensembles and selected solo performances
from the morning adjudication.
