Missouri Percussive Arts Society

Section I

Name: The name of the organization shall be known as the Missouri Chapter, Percussive Arts Society, which is an affiliate of the Percussive Arts Society, Inc., hereinafter called PAS.

Section II

Purpose: The Percussive Arts Society (PAS) is a not-for-profit service organization. Its purpose is educational, promoting drums and percussion through a viable network of performers, teachers, students, enthusiasts and sustaining members.

Section III

Logo: The logo shall be the same as that of PAS.

Section IV

Affiliation: The Missouri Chapter has been officially recognized, and as such, will abide by the official bylaws of PAS. It is understood that the chapter is not an independent society and individual members are obliged to pay dues to PAS for their membership and are therefore eligible to receive all publications, and to attend and vote at all general meetings.

Section V

Election of Officers: The officers shall consist of President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer. Terms shall be for two years with all officers eligible for re-election. All current members who are in good standing with PAS shall be eligible to vote. A nominating committee shall be appointed by the President. Previous permission should have been received from the candidates prior to their names being placedon the ballot. All members shall receive by mail, an official ballot and slate. All secret ballots are to be tabulated and new officers appointed no later than January first of the election year by the nominating committee.

Section VI

Duties of Officers

President

1. To represent the state chapter in all matters of business not designated to other officers.

2. To establish time and place for all chapter meetings.

3. To preside over chapter meetings.

4. To be liaison with PAS through the PAS executive officer in charge of chapters.

5. To submit written reports of chapter activities when required or requested by PAS.

6. To appoint any committees deemed necessary to the accomplishment of chapter activities.


Vice President

1. To assist the President in his/her duties.

2. To act as projects chairman, thereby coordinating chapter efforts in the areas of contests, symposiums, clinics, and education conventions.


Secretary/Treasurer

1. To share joint responsibility with the other officers in issuing the chapter news.etters

2. To prepare and submit annual expenses and annual fiscal report.

3. To record the minutes of each general meeting so that they may be distributed to the membership via a newsletter.

4. To help the President keep an accurate accounting of all funds in the chapter treasury.


Section VII

Funds and Finance

1. Every dues-paying member of PAS is automatically a member-in-good-standing of his or her chapter. There shall be no additional dues required of chapter members.

2. Each year upon submitting the reports required by PAS the chapter will automatically receive dues reimbursement as determined by the Board of Directors for each paid member-in-good-standing, excluding libraries and commercial members.


Section VIII

These bylaws may be amended by two-thirds of the voting members. Membership must be given as least two weeks to return ballots. All proposed amendments shall be given to a revision committee for proper language and preparation for mailing.
