Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Grant for a Non-Percussionist Band Director
The purpose of the “Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Grant for a Non-Percussionist Band Director” is to provide financial assistance to a band director to attend the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) to be held in Indianapolis, IN on November 19–22, 2014 in order to further the band director’s knowledge of percussion instruments and their use in school ensembles. PASIC 2014 Scholarships
The Percussive Arts Society is pleased to announce several scholarships assisting students to attend PASIC 2014. Applicant must be an active PAS member at time of application, and if selected, during PASIC 2014. Each scholarship recipient will receive PASIC registration, PASIC souvenir t-shirt and $500 toward the cost of transportation/lodging. 2015 PASIC Scholarship Application available Jan. 2015.
PASIC 2014 Symphonic Session Grants
The Percussive Arts Society offers grants to be awarded to those chosen and invited by the Society, with recommendation from the Symphonic Committee, to present symphonic percussion sessions at PASIC. These grants will be for sessions with single presenters and does not include group presentations. This grant program will be administered by the Percussive Arts Society and underwritten by Stanley and Margaret Leonard. There will be a maximum of twelve (12) grants, each in the amount of $300. Grant funds will be paid to the recipient following the PASIC event. Sessions should include symphonic clinic-performances, labs, opera and musical theater percussion, ethnic percussion with orchestra, band and wind ensemble percussion. To be eligible for this grant, you must apply through the standard PASIC Artist Application Process from September 15th thru December 15th.
Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund
The Zildjian Family Opportunity Fund, established by the Zildjian family in 2001, is a permanently endowed trust managed and administered through the Percussive Arts Society. Awards ranging from $500-$3,000 provide funding for percussion-based presentations directed for underserved youth, ages pre-school through high school. All services funded are free of charge to participants and take place in local community settings. Application available soon. Deadline to apply is July 1, 2014.

Freddie Gruber Scholarship
This annual scholarship, in memory of Buddy Rich and Nick Ceroli, will be in the amount of $2,500 awarded to a college or university student for drumset performance. 2015/16 Scholarship Application available Nov. 2014.
John E. Grimes Timpani Scholarship
The $1,000 scholarship is open to timpani students (ages 18–26) interested in pursuing the study of period timpani playing. Scholarship may be applied to lessons, travel to study, etc., as long as the focus is baroque/classical period timpani playing. Applicant must be current member of the Percussive Arts Society. 2015/16 Scholarship Application available Nov. 2014.
PAS/Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship
As a charter member of the Percussive Arts Society and a 16-year Trustee of Berklee College Armand Zildjian sought to create more learning opportunities for today’s musicians in both contemporary and classical music. The PAS Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship is one step in fulfilling that quest. This annual $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student percussionist enrolled in an accredited college or university school of music. 2015/16 Scholarship Application available Nov. 2014.
PAS/Remo, Inc. Fred Hoey Memorial Scholarship
Fred Hoey had an illustrious career in the field of music as an author, clinician, and percussion industry innovator. He was a charter member of the Percussive Arts Society and an educator whose influence on percussionists continues with the PAS Fred Hoey Memorial Scholarship. This annual $1000 scholarship is awarded to an incoming college freshman percussionist enrolled in the School of Music at an accredited college or university. 2015/16 Scholarship Application available Nov. 2014.
PAS/Sabian, Ltd. Larrie Londin Memorial Scholarship
The late Larrie Londin was one of the world’s leading studio drummers. A musician with an adventurous musical spirit, he was a man who liked to share with others. That sharing continues through the PAS/Sabian Larrie Londin Memorial Scholarship. Created to support promising young drummers with their drumset studies, a total of $3,000 is awarded annually. 2015/16 Scholarship Application available Nov. 2014.
PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Vibraphone Scholarship
The PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Vibraphone Scholarship was established in 2005 in honor of legendary jazz vibraphonist Terry Gibbs. Gibbs is recognized as one of the best ever to grace the genre of bop, having played with artists such as Buddy Rich, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie, and leading his own critically acclaimed big band, The Dream Band. Funded by Yamaha, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student registered in an accredited college or university school of music for the following academic year.
