The Heirloom snare drum collection from the Laudo Drum Co. offers superior quality and features patented, interlocking staves that eliminate the need for glue and represent a major advance over traditional ply, steam-bent, and stave shell construction methods.
Highly-figured, handselected hardwoods are chosen by Laudo for their visual and sonic characteristics then precisely formed into a unique set of bars for each drum and painstakingly assembled into multiphonic (multiple woods) or monophonic (one wood) shell configurations. With glue no longer required, the natural acoustic properties of the wood have a stronger influence on the personality of the drum.
Laudo’s proprietary process yields a drum that is round and stable, with perfectly even bearing edges, for unsurpassed sensitivity and a rich tonal spectrum as well as the highest levels of sound quality, performance, and appearance.
Heirloom snare drums are available in 14- x 5-inch and 14 x 6.5-inch models in a selection of mahogany, cherry, walnut, oak, maple, ash, and other species (on request). Each comes with a “Birth Certificate” showing the drum’s specifications and position on Laudo’s Sonic Scale (dark to bright).
