Virtual KoSA Festival

by Rhythm Scene Staff | Jun 24, 2020

The KoSA International Percussion Workshop and Festival will be holding its drum camp July 6–10, 2020. This year marks its 25th year, and it will be the first time that KoSA will hold the event live online. It will be also the first time KoSA launches its 1st drum set and percussion competition, which will be open to all participants who register for the camp.

This year’s faculty includes Chester Thompson, John Riley, David Garibaldi, Bill Bachman, Mike Clark, Marcus Santos, Allan Molnar, Jim Norris, Rick Van Horn, Paul Picard, Dominic Messier, Jim Riley, and Aldo Mazza. The course of study includes a diverse range of styles and techniques—from rock, jazz, Cuban, funk, and classical percussion to virtual ensemble technology, Garage Band, and classes in music business and self-promotion for all levels.

As per the usual KoSA camp, participants learn in small, daily classes. This format will be upheld (albeit virtually), as it will be a hands-on interactive experience and participants will be called upon to play in all four daily classes. Friday night’s competition/concert will feature participants who will be invited to perform a 2- to 4-minute piece (solo or with a track) in front of their virtual audience, and the faculty will serve as the jury. Participants will have a chance to win products donated by our sponsors.

For more information, visit www.kosamusic.com to register. KoSA will be accepting only a limited number of registrations.
