42nd-Annual Leigh Howard Stevens Summer Marimba Seminar
When: June 1–5; 7–11, 2021
Where: All events will take place on the Zoom videoconferencing platform
Guest Presenters: Michael Burritt (Professor of Percussion, Eastman School of Music), John Parks (Audio/Video Recording guru, Florida State University), Escape X (Andrea Venet, University of North Florida, and Annie Stevens, Virginia Tech), Cameron Leach (Winner, PAS International Solo Artist Competition)
Cost: $500 for new students; $300 for returning LHS Seminar alumni; additional $100 for a personal masterclass
Overview: The Seminar includes over 25 hours of instruction with Leigh Howard Stevens, clinics by our guest artists, a virtual tour of the Malletech factory, and the opportunity for a masterclass based on your pre-recorded performance. Percussionists college-aged and older (incoming freshmen included) are invited to join us for 10 days of study with marimba virtuoso and pioneer Leigh Howard Stevens. The LHS Seminar will cover a wide variety of topics, including: technique, memorization systems, tone production, repertoire, acoustics, practice techniques, career development, history, and more!
