Drumming Legends Share their Passion in New Movie
Count Me In, is a new movie that celebrates the deep passion of drumming, uncovering the joy and exhilaration of a life dedicated to driving the beat.

The film takes viewers on a journey with some of the greatest, most respected players and personalities from the world of drumming. It explores their beginnings, influences, and inspirations though conversation, concert footage, and original content and concludes with a drum off. Count Me In beautifully communicates the energy, art and skill of the drummers who have shaped some of the most iconic music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The men and women featured in Count Me In come from a diverse range of backgrounds, including legendary players Roger Taylor, Stewart Copeland, Taylor Hawkins, Nick Mason, Chad Smith, and Cindy Blackman Santana, who are joined by rising stars Emily Dolan Davies, Jess Bowen, and Ben Thatcher. Included in the film are tributes to the vision, creativity, and impact of such drumming pioneers as Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts, Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Ginger Baker.

Directed by Mark Lo, whose filmography includes The Railway Man and Belle, this movie shares the love and passion that takes drummers from banging on pots and pans as kids to playing on the world’s biggest stages. 

Drummers and non-drummers alike will enjoy the simple love of music that lies at the very core of Count Me In, now available on Netflix.

Matt Garstka Joins DW Family 
Drum Workshop, Inc. (DW) announced the addition of Matt Garstka to the DW roster.

Matt has recorded and toured with Animals as Leaders for over ten years. The band is currently putting the finishing touches on their fifth album. Matt is a passionate educator and has traveled the world putting on clinics and has a website dedicated to providing an affordable education for advanced students.

New Drummers Welcomed 
Porter & Davies welcomed a host of new drummers to its artist family. They join a group of discerning musicians who have discovered the bone-conducting benefits of the company’s tactile monitors.

Francis RuizBuckcherry’s Francis Ruiz recently purchased a BC2. Talking about it he said, “Finally, I get the feel I want and need to play inspired, every show and every venue without having to compromise with a sub!” Other artists investing in Porter & Davies gear include Drew Michael, studio and tour drummer for Sam Fender, a 2020 nominee for Best New Artist at the Brit Awards, and Michael Rennie, drummer for fast growing alt artist YungBlud who has over ten million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Snarky Puppy band members and Grammy award winners Jason “JT” Thomas and Jamison Rosshave both invested in a Porter & Davies kit to use on tour and in the studio. Jamison, who is currently playing with Boz Skaggs, commented, “This throne clears up a lot of mix issues as a drummer. The BC2 along with in-ears; a match made in Heaven.” Grammy nominee Joe Gelini is using a TT6 Equipped round throne top when playing with his band Cha Wa, and Jerry Pentecost, drummer with the Grammy-award winning band Old Crow Medicine Show, observes, “It’s hard to imagine life without the BC2! It’s a must have for all drummers!”

Chris Marquart, touring drummer with multi-platinum country superstar Cole Swindell, recently acquired a BC2rm; Ross Craib, the drummer accompanying acclaimed singer songwriter Dodie, bought a BC2; and Andy Burrows, part of the Razorlight line-up and 2021 band reunion, purchased a BC2. Jake Sommers, who plays with one of country’s top earning artists, Luke Combs, found that, “Once I began playing with the BC2rm I could tell an immediate difference in my playing. I could feel the low end, plus the addition of adding the toms is an added bonus.”

Turkish drummers Mehmet Demirdelen and Berkan Tilavel, of Duman and Adamlar respectively, joined the Porter & Davies artist family alongside Canadian drum teacher Nathan McLaren, Australia’s Kieran Lama of indie rock band Spacey Jane, and Jost Nickel with German rapper and pop artist Jan Delay. While in America, Josh Gabriel (Terry Bradshaw), Norm Whitehurst (Jennifer Batten Band), Jay Nazz (Reckless Kelly), and Gonzo Sandoval (Armored Saint) are using Porter & Davies monitors.
