D’ADDARIO
Women in Drums Scholarship
The D’Addario Foundation is partnering with Musicians Institute to launch the new Women in Drums Scholarship beginning in Spring 2022. According to the Musicians Institute, currently and in recent history, eight percent of drum students are female. That is why this year, the D’Addario Foundation and Musicians Institute will be transforming the Evans Drumheads Scholarship to the Women in Drums Scholarship to encourage more women to pursue drumming.
“We are proud to partner with the D’Addario Foundation and their ongoing support of the D’Addario Women in Guitar Scholarship and new Women in Drums Scholarship at Musicians Institute,” says Beth Marlis, Vice President at Musicians Institute. “These scholarships are powerful acknowledgments and recognition of the talents of deserving young women musicians at the college level. This kind of opportunity is truly transformative, empowering, and encouraging for young artists by providing both visibility and tangible financial support to excel in their music studies. We applaud the vision and leadership of D’Addario in supporting the next generation of female artists with the tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.”
Each scholarship is $1,500 and awarded annually, to celebrate and provide financial support for the education of talented, newly-enrolling, female-identifying students. Scholarship submissions for the 2022 year close on March 4, 2022.
“Music is a universally powerful tool for self-expression and self-empowerment,” says Suzanne D’Addario, D’Addario Foundation Executive Director. “The D’Addario Foundation hopes to encourage and nurture more female musicians. It is our goal to help promote more music created by women and foster new opportunities that enable more young women to thrive in the music industry and beyond.”

PEARL
2022 Scholarship Applications Open
Pearl Corporation announced the opening of its second annual college scholarship, "Musicians Making a Difference," which will award two $5,000 scholarships to high school musicians who have demonstrated the ability to impact change in themselves, their community, and those around them.
"This scholarship has been instrumental in getting me off to a great start in college, not only financially but by boosting my confidence and showing me that persistence and dedication truly make a difference,” said Isabel Michaelides, one of two inaugural winners of last year’s scholarship.. “I feel so honored to have been one of the first two students awarded this scholarship, and it fills me with pride to be recognized for my efforts in the field of music.”
A diverse panel of Pearl staff and artists will select recipients based on a student's contributions to their community rather than their playing or vocal ability. The scholarship's objective is to reward and inspire the youth who will shape tomorrow.
The application deadline is Friday, April 15. To learn more and apply for this scholarship, visit pearldrum.com/en/about-pearl/scholarships.
